Join us at the Cerro Gordo County Emergency Management Center for our monthly meeting on
February 12th at 6:30 PM. Our new president, Russ (KF0JOU), is using Robert’s Rules of Order to
keep meetings organized. We will continue focusing on updating the club bylaws—this month, a
sample set of bylaws from a similar club will be attached for everyone to review. Please take a look and
bring your thoughts or suggestions. New members and visitors are always welcome!
Winter Field Day Recap
Winter Field Day (Jan 24–25) was a lot of fun! Thank you to everyone who came out, operated, or just
hung out and socialized. It was great to see some familiar faces enjoying winter portable radio together.
Net Control Schedule
At the February 12th meeting, we will release the new net control schedule. Once released, it is your
responsibility to run the net on your assigned Sunday evening (including logging check-ins and sending
the completed log to Justin N0JBE). January nets had good participation. Let’s keep the energy going
—join us every Sunday at 6:30 PM on 442.275 MHz. We still need net controls!
ARES Update
We still need more ARES operators! Complete the basic ARRL training and submit it to Justin
(N0JBE). Our ARES net runs every Wednesday at 7:00 PM on 147.315 MHz (DCS 047). Feel free to
check in and practice!
Solar Weather Outlook
January Recap: Solar activity in January was moderate, with average sunspot numbers around 119 and
solar flux near 140 SFU. Occasional M-class flares provided decent propagation, especially on 10m,
15m, and 20m bands. February Outlook: Sunspot numbers are forecast around 122 with solar flux
expected in the 145–165 SFU range. This should support good daytime openings on higher HF bands.
Watch for geomagnetic disturbances from coronal holes. Monitor spaceweather.com for real-time
updates and share your best QSOs on the net!

Our club will have a table at the River City Rifle & Pistol Club Gun Show on March 7th and 8th. If
you are available to work a shift, please let Justin (N0JBE) know! Have ideas to draw people to our
table? Bring them to the February 12th meeting!
