Next Meeting: July 9th at 6:30 PM
Join us at the Cerro Gordo County Emergency Management Center for our monthly meeting on July
9th at 6:30 PM. The club is still moving slowly with very little activity planned at this time. Come with
any ideas you may have to help get things going again. New members and visitors are always
welcome!
June Nets Recap
June nets had 16 official check-ins. We know there were likely more, but several net reports were not
turned in. One of our net controls has stepped down, so we are now short one operator. If you are
interested in becoming a net control, please reach out to Justin (N0JBE). The assigned net control is
responsible for running the net and submitting the log.July Net Schedule
July 5th – N0JBE
July 12th – W0ILS
July 19th – OPEN
July 26th – KE0YDB
If you are assigned a date, please be prepared to run the net or arrange a replacement.
Field Day 2026 Recap
Field Day was a joint effort between NACG and NIARC and turned out to be a lot of fun this year.
Thank you to everyone who came out, operated, or helped make the event happen. We hope everyone
who participated learned something new. Our club callsign, KE0POU, was used on the GOTA station
and earned 140 points.
ARES Update
A new ARES Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) has been released. If you have not received a copy
and would like one, please contact Justin (N0JBE). The new primary ARES repeater is now 147.150
MHz (+ offset) with a tone of 103.5 Hz. ARES nets are held every Wednesday night at 7:00 PM on this
repeater. Everyone is welcome to check in, even if you are not yet an official ARES member.
Solar Weather Outlook
June Recap: Solar activity remained moderate with sunspot numbers in the 100–110 range and solar
flux around 130–145 SFU. Conditions were generally favorable for Field Day, with decent openings on
20m, 15m, and 10m during the day. July Outlook: Sunspot numbers are expected to stay around 100–
115 with solar flux in the 130–150 range. Daytime conditions on the higher HF bands should remain
usable, though we may see occasional disturbances from coronal holes. Check spaceweather.com for
the latest updates.
