These bylaws were sent in previous emails, if you need a copy reach out to club leadership —please take a look and come with any thoughts or suggestions. New members and visitors are always welcome!
March Nets Recap
March nets had 19 check-ins across four Sunday sessions. (Reminder: check-ins only count if the net control turns in the log.) Let’s pick up the pace—join us every Sunday at 6:30 PM on 442.275 MHz.
Field Day Update
The club has granted permission for the other local club (NIARC – W0MCW) to use our club callsign during Field Day this year on June 27th. Location is still TBD. More details will be shared as they become available.
Kinney Pioneer Museum Open House
On April 11th at noon, the Kinney Pioneer Museum in Mason City is opening its doors to hams so we can view the old KGLO radio equipment. All hams are welcome to attend—no club membership required. Come take a look at a piece of local radio history!
ARES Update
We still need more ARES operators! The Amateur Radio Emergency Service provides backup communications for Cerro Gordo County during disasters and severe weather. To join, complete the free FEMA online courses (IS-100, IS-200, IS-700, IS-800) and send proof to Justin (N0JBE). No experience needed. Our ARES net is every Wednesday at 7:00 PM on 147.315 MHz (DCS 047). Feel free to check in and practice!
Solar Weather Outlook
March Recap: Solar activity was moderate with sunspot numbers averaging around 110–120 and solar flux near 145 SFU. Occasional flares kept the higher HF bands active. April Outlook: Sunspot numbers are forecast around 105–115 with solar flux in the 140–150 SFU range. Expect decent daytime openings on 10m, 15m, and 20m. Watch for minor geomagnetic disturbances from coronal holes. Check spaceweather.com for updates and share your best QSOs on the net!
